Legislative Priorities

During the 2027 legislative session, Northwest Reproductive Equity Action will fight to protect and expand access to abortion; to secure funding for the clinics that provide this essential care; and to safeguard the privacy of patients and providers.

Washington state law protects the right to have an abortion, but barriers remain that prevent full access to affordable, reliable, and equitable reproductive healthcare. Learn about our priority legislation and join us to help advocate for expanded care.

The second Trump administration has intensified its attacks on bodily autonomy, targeting access to abortion and gender-affirming care. This relentless federal overreach has real consequences nationwide, including here in Washington. Access to care requires more than legal rights; it requires infrastructure, funding, and readiness.

Washington

Working in coalition with the No Hate in WA State campaign, our team is committed to defeating two harmful ballot, I-001 and I-638, initiatives this November.

In January, we’ll continue to work with lawmakers to fund clinics, expand access to mifepristone, and increase protections for patients who come here from out of state.

Oregon

Working with coalition partners, If/When/How and Legal Voice, we are laying the ground work to pass a Dignity in Pregnancy Loss bill that would ensure that all patients who experience miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal death can make their own decision about how to process and manage their loss.

Joining a coalition of partners and lawmakers to expand the Shield Law, which protects abortion seekers and providers from out of state over reach, we’re working to expand protections in Oregon.

Idaho

We are working to pass Prop 1, the Reproductive Freedom and Privacy Act, which will restore fundamental rights to abortion, contraceptive and reproductive healthcare.

In collaboration with the Pro-Voice Project, a storytelling collective that centers the diversity fo voices of abortion patients, we are increasing awareness around reproductive healthcare so lawmakers take notice.

Take Action
