Announcing Our New Name!

Today, we’re proud to announce Northwest Reproductive Equity Action, the political advocacy arm of Northwest Reproductive Equity.

Our history goes back to 1971, when we began as Washington’s state chapter of the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) and later became Pro-Choice Washington.

For more than five decades, we have worked to defend and expand abortion access and bodily autonomy. Northwest Reproductive Equity Action will carry that work forward by building political power on three fronts:

  • Direct lobbying. We put advocates in the room with lawmakers to push for strong reproductive health protections and to stop legislation that threatens them.
  • Candidate endorsements. We back candidates who are committed to abortion access, gender affirming care, and bodily autonomy, and we work to get them elected.
  • A voters’ guide. We publish a voters’ guide so people can see where candidates stand on reproductive freedom before they vote.

The stakes are high. Abortion bans across the country are endangering patients, and clinics in states that protect access are stretched thin by people traveling for care. That’s why we’re growing our reach beyond Washington into Oregon and Idaho, partnering with the organizations, lawmakers, and leaders who are fighting for reproductive freedom in these communities.

Northwest Reproductive Equity Action brings deep experience and a bold vision: a Northwest where everyone has full reproductive freedom and control over their own body.
